Coragulac and Cororooke
Coragulac
Township 13 km to the northwest of Colac. The name Coragulac is derived from the local aboriginal word, 'corakyallock', meaning a sandy creek.
| Coragulac is dominated by St Brendan's Roman Catholic Church and the adjoining primary school (below). Until 2009, the nearby Good Samaritan Centre was run by the Sisters of the Good Samaritan of the Order of St Benedict. |

Cororooke
Township 11 km northwest of Colac. The name is derived from the local aboriginal
language, 'korerook', meaning native companion. Cororooke was once a key
player in the Australian onion industry. Today it is the centre of a dairy
products industry with the Fonterra works dominating the town. The factory
can be seen clearly across the lake from Colac, and produces mozzarella and ricotta cheeses as well as cream and whey powders for domestic and export markets.
Cororooke is dominated by the Fonterra dairy processing plant.
